Ariel 3rd surgery 2025: Elbow Arthroscopy with Medial Coronoid Process Removal

Image
Meet my beloved, kindest, and smartest girl —  Ariel (Esa) . We rescued her when she was just  two months old , and from that very first day she became our true ray of sunshine. Ariel is gentle, deeply attached to her people, and incredibly intelligent. She’s even a bit of a polyglot — responding to commands in  both Russian and English , which always makes people smile. She already had 2 major surgeries on her legs. In December 2025, Ariel began limping again—this time on her front legs. The diagnosis was devastating: bilateral elbow dysplasia. She was in pain, and an urgent, life-changing third surgery was the only option to relieve it and give her a chance at a normal life. Elbow Arthroscopy with Medial Coronoid Process Removal (Bilateral) is surgery used to treat elbow dysplasia. A small camera is inserted into both elbows, and damaged bone fragments causing pain are removed to improve mobility and reduce discomfort.   On December 19, 2025 , Arie...

Ariel second surgery 2024 - Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO)

Meet my beloved, kindest, and smartest girl —  Ariel (Esa) . We rescued her when she was just  two months old , and from that very first day she became our true ray of sunshine. Ariel is gentle, deeply attached to her people, and incredibly intelligent. She’s even a bit of a polyglot — responding to commands in  both Russian and English , which always makes people smile. In July 2024, Ariel underwent her second major surgery — a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) on her left rear leg with arthroscopy. The veterinary bill came to $7,200, followed by 8 weeks of very difficult rehabilitation.  She was not allowed to run, jump, or play. Walks were restricted to   5–15 minutes , strictly controlled. Every step had to be monitored. Every day required patience, planning, and emotional strength. TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy)  is a major orthopedic surgery performed to repair a torn knee ligament in dogs. During the procedure, the surgeon cut...

Ariel first surgery 2023: Superficial Digital Flexor Tendon Luxation

For five wonderful years , Ariel lived a carefree, happy life. She ran, played, loved the beach, and filled our home with joy. Then, slowly and quietly, things began to change. It started with a slight limp after a beach day. At first, I didn’t think much of it. I assumed she was tired or sore from running in the sand. But the limp didn’t go away. Over time, it became more noticeable, more frequent, and more concerning. After multiple veterinary visits and evaluations, Ariel was diagnosed with Superficial Digital Flexor Tendon Luxation in her right rear hock . This condition means that a tendon in the back of her ank...

Ariel Is Healing — But I’m Breaking Trying to Keep Up

Image
Good morning from Ariel. This article is an update to our ongoing story. You can read the original post about Ariel’s surgery and our fundraiser here: Help Cover Ariel’s Surgery and Recovery Costs. Today, I’m sharing two short videos — one before her last surgery and one after (attached below). I hesitated before posting them. Not because they are graphic, but because they show something deeply personal: how much pain she was in, and how fragile recovery really looks. Ariel is not a story about a miracle recovery. She is a story about endurance. We rescued her when she was just two months old. From the beginning, she was gentle, loyal, and quietly joyful — the kind of dog who stays close without asking for anything. I never imagined that so much of her young life would be spent recovering from surgeries instead of running freely. She has already endured two major orthopedic surgeries on her back legs. We paid for those ourselves, because at the time, we could. You do not hesit...
