Who We Are & How We Save Dogs

Image
We believe financial hardship should never be a death sentence for a dog. That is who we are. Here is how we save dogs. At Hope Paws Support Fund, a 100% volunteer-led nonprofit based in Lake Forest, California, we are dedicated to giving dogs a second chance at a healthy, happy life. No one takes a salary. No one takes a stipend. Every dollar goes directly to saving dogs. We are built on compassion, transparency, and action. Our mission is simple:  help dogs in need by supporting the people and rescues who love them. We fulfill this mission through four core projects. Project 1: Emergency Veterinary Care Fund  — We provide direct financial assistance paid straight to veterinary clinics. This ensures that families never have to choose between their dog and their financial stability. When a dog needs urgent surgery or critical care, we step in so the family can focus on healing, not bills. Project 2: Rescue & Pull Support  — We provide funds to rescues so they can pu...

How to Start a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit

Image
If you’re wondering how to start a 501(c)(3) nonprofit , you’re not alone. At Hope Paws Support Fund, we believe in full transparency with our donors and supporters—and that includes showing exactly how we navigated the process. Becoming a recognized nonprofit in the United States is a structured, multi-step journey. Today, we’re sharing how we achieved official 501(c)(3) status and what each step means—not just for compliance, but for you, our donors, and the animals we serve. February 4, 2026 Step 1 Choosing and Verifying Our Organization Name We carefully selected a unique nonprofit name and verified its availability with the State of California: https://bizfileonline.sos.ca.gov/search/business . Why it matters: The state ensures no other entity is using a similar name. This protects our legal identity, branding, and ensures clear recognition for our supporters. February 6, 2026 Step 2 Filing Articles of Incorporation This is the official “birth certificate” of our nonprofit. I...

Raider Found His Forever Home!

Image
Raider adoption is complete! This sweet blue merle Catahoula Leopard Hound mix (ID: A1878348) has found his forever home after being at-risk at Riverside County Animal Control — San Jacinto Shelter. Raider first came to our attention on February 14 , when we began our efforts to help him find a loving home. At the time, Raider was at Riverside County Animal Control — San Jacinto Shelter , a neutered male weighing 48 lbs and just around 11 months old . Despite his young age, Raider was considered an at-risk animal , and we knew we had to act quickly to give him the chance he deserved. Thanks to the dedication of shelter staff, volunteers, Raider’s journey has come to a happy ending. Special thank you to Brenna D’Estito Chapman on Instagram (@wop.undercover) , who tirelessly networked and eventually found the perfect adopter for him! Yesterday, Raider was welcomed into his forever home , leaving the shelter behind and stepping into a life full of love, care, and adventure. Stories like...
